No New Posts Acheron

The river of woe and moaning. The great river has its spring in Epirus and ends in a deep crevasse, descending into mother Earth’ stomach. Here you meet the ferryman Charon who never allows anyone to enter his barge without a fee. If you have not been properly buried with a coin in your mouth you are condemned to the shores of Cocýtus where you are to wait for 100 years before being allowed to enter Hades.

No New Posts Cocytus

Cocýtus is the river of death laments. It is a tributary of Acheron in Epirus from where it flows to the Underworld. When the wretched cry, Cocýtus swells receiving the tears in its bend.
On the banks of Cocýtus the souls of the dead, who have not been probably buried, wander aimlessly for 100 years. They are waiting for the Judges of the Tribunal to reveal what is to happen to them.

No New Posts Lethe

The river of forgetting. The newly dead would drink from these waters to forget the life they had lead. This was important for those who went on for reincarnation, so their old life would not haunt them.

The river of remembrance. The sister river of Lethe, whose effects were opposite. The dead who drank from this river and went on to reincarnation would remember everything from their lives before.

No New Posts Styx

Styx is the main river of the Underworld being the river of horror and terror. It is muddy and its water is glacial. It leads into the very depths of Hades. This is the last river the dead souls cross in order to get to Hades.
Gods swear their oaths by this river, and the consequences of breaking such an oath are terrible indeed.
